Mermaid Revisited...

What inspires you?

As a young child/preteen, we grew up swimming in my Aunt Nancy's pool almost every day for at least 5 months of the year.

I can't tell you how many times my cousin Kim and I pretended to be mermaids, hooking our feet together and swimming as if our legs were one big flipper.

Every time I look at a Mermaid, those memories return.

I know many of you can relate.

Here is one of my Mermaid paintings...

Aren't we all just mermaids washed ashore?

Have a blissfully creative day!!!

Studio Vignettes

Thought I'd share some pretty Vignettes from my home Studio with you...

Above my Armoir

The moon is a template my late husband and I designed for our Daugher Emily's Cradle.
Yes, she slept in a large crescent moon that rocked on the moon's curve.
It now resides in her closet holding toys.

My studio has a large Family tree painted on the wall.
The branches creep onto my kitchen ceiling which I painted clouds and birds on.

Lastly, I will share with you a couple treasures I recently acquired.
The old Camera and the darling green head vase filled with Vintage Millinery.
The frame houses one of my favorite Coco Chanel quotes...

"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different"

Embrace the differences in people!

Carpe Diem!

For Sale

I am redecortating my living room just a bit.
My sweetheart has lived here for a year now in what is a very girly house.
Bless him for putting up with it.

So, the living room is turning a little more masculine...I said a little...LOL.

Selling a couple pieces from there.
Here they are...

Super cool French table in the Yummiest Aqua...

I am Neutralizing the color palette and making the room a bit more Industrial Chic.
Less French.

Very pretty chair, strong and sturdy.

Also selling the black lanterns on the bolow post.

Let me know if you are interested.

Happy Wednesday!

Vintage Metal Lanterns

I picked up two of these super cool Vintage Metal Electric Lanterns.
They are old, from Mexico and had the cheesiest colored glass.
Luckily the color was just painted on and soaked right off!

Before, without the glass.  These lanterns are 35 inches tall.
So, I took vintage silhouette images of art deco women, scanned them into my printer,
cropped and blew them up.  I attached them on the inside of glass with hot glue.

Deco Yummy!!!

Loving these!

Wanting to keep them, but will more than likely sell them,
because they are too big for my house
!

Ooohh, La, La...like a French Peep Show!!!

Window to the soul

Anyone who has been to my home know I ADORE dress forms.
Having no less than 25 throughout my home and studio.
Almost all are Vintage, some plain and some over the top embellished.

I am incredibly Inspired by the human form.

This little darling sits on my worktable in my studio.

This one before embellishment was slotted for a garage sale.
The boobs looked like a Madonna Flashback...awful.

My Mom was here the day I started this piece which she found a little disconcerting to say the least as I took a hand saw and started cutting off the chest to accommodate the frame.

The last embellishment for this piece will be four simple words
decoupaged to below the frame...
"Window to the soul"

For within the eyes you can usually see a person's soul,
if you are looking hard enough.

High Five Friday Friends...

Be Inspired this weekend!

My Emily

My daughter is one of my inspirations.
She is full of imagination and whimsy!

She was playing one day and I shot this pic with my cell phone camera and sent it to my email...
Then I had to delete the mess behind and voila...

The Image on my Daydreampainter Business card!
This picture makes me happy!
